Hello, and welcome to this virtual learning experience!

My name is Ms. Lewis and I will be helping you navigate online learning by offering insight, guidance, and an instructional modality that will ensure that you, the student, can perform and learn just as effectively as you did when attending live classes.

Just so that we can get better acquainted, I will provide a little insight on the experiences that led me to my destiny as an educator. I came from a humble background, as I am 1 out of 8 siblings. My mother was a single parent and did not always have the financial means to provide a better life for us.

Consequently, the importance of education became evident to me at a young age since I knew it meant freedom and the opportunity to obtain a better life! I performed well during high-school and after high-school, I enrolled in college. Initially, when I started college, I encountered personal turmoil and extenuating circumstances that seemed undefeatable. However, through faith and determination I eventually prevailed, and now I use teaching as a platform to inspire others to overcome adversity and excel!

Teaching, specifically shaping the future of young people, has inherently been my passion. My love for positively influencing and impacting youth through education started with my own children and thereafter expanded to the children of the members of my church as well as my extended family. Remarkably, my passion of teaching compelled me to re-enroll in college to pursue a formal education. So, I became a student at UAB and obtained my undergraduate degree in accounting. After obtaining my Bachler’s of Science in Accounting, I achieved a Master's in Math Education as well as an EDS in Teacher Leadership.

Conversely, my college education has blessed me to be an educator for over 15 years, and has permitted me to teach grades 7-12. Moreover, I have experience teaching Pre-Algebra, Algebra I & II, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, and AP Calculus.

The greater implication I would like for my students to gain from my story is that regardless of what circumstances you face, never lose hope, use faith and the authority invested on the inside of you to prevail over the obstacles you face in life! It does not matter where you come from, what resources you lack, or what adversities you face; use education as a tool to gain entry into worlds you never thought possible.

Furthermore, believe and boldly proclaim that you can and will achieve anything you set your mind to, and you will succeed!

I so look forward to having you as my students!
